Title: MEMORIZATION OF THE QURAN AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN ALJAMEA TUS SAIFIYAH UNIVERSITY, NAIROBI KENYA

Abstract: ABSTRACT The impact of Quran memorization on pupils' academic achievement in Aljamea tus Saifiyah, Nairobi, is the focus of this research. The following inquiries formed the basis of the investigation: In what ways does learning the Quran help one succeed in school? How have pupils at Aljamea tus Saifiyah, Nairobi, benefited from learning the Quran by heart? When it comes to teaching and learning the Quran, what difficulties do students and teachers at Aljamea tus Saifiyah in Nairobi face? What are some ways that the pupils at Aljamea tus Saifiyah, Nairobi, can overcome the challenges they face? The research is grounded upon Liv Vygotsky's theory of sociocultural development. Mixed-methods approach is adapted in this research and particularly convergent parallel design is employed. All 975 male and female pupils at Aljamea tus Saifiyah in Nairobi, Kenya are the target population along with their 115 teachers. The researcher has sampled 280 students and 20 faculty members from the Faculty of Quranic Sciences using a stratified simple random selection strategy. Quantitative data was gathered via the use of questionnaires given to both instructors and students, while qualitative data was gathered using interview guidelines given to teachers. IBM SPSS 22.0 was used to prepare and enter quantitative data, which then generated percentages and frequencies that was summarized and displayed in figures. The information gathered during the interviews was published in narrative form after being categorized into topics. The study ensured the construct validity and reliability of instruments by employing the Cronbach Alpha coefficient to assess questionnaire consistency and validity. Rigorous sampling strategies were implemented to enhance reliability, and data collection practices adhered to standardized protocols. The reliability of Qualitative data was ensured using triangulation and inter-coder reliability method. In conducting this study, the investigator made every attempt to follow all relevant ethical guidelines. The research findings provided valuable insights into the relationship between Quran memorization and academic performance among pupils at Aljamea tus Saifiyah, Nairobi. The findings also suggested that memorization of the Quran improves the time management skills of the students.
