Abstract: ABSTRACT The study investigated selected motivation strategies and teachers’ job satisfaction in Catholic secondary schools in Antsirabe I district, Madagascar. The study was guided by four research questions: How does professional development influence teachers’ job satisfaction in catholic secondary school in Antsirabe I district? To what extent does the provision of incentives influence teachers’ job satisfaction in the catholic secondary schools in Antsirabe I district? How does work schedule flexibility influence teachers’ job satisfaction in catholic secondary schools in Antsirabe I district? How does working conditions influence teachers’ job satisfaction in catholic secondary schools in Antsirabe I district? The study was guided by Herzberg two factor theory. Mixed-method research paradigm (convergent parallel design) was adopted. Cross-sectional design was employed as quantitative design while phenomenology design was used as qualitative design. Stratified, simple and purposive samplings were used to identify the respondents. Data was collected using questionnaires and interview guide. Content validity and split-half reliability were used to ensure validity and reliability of quantitative instruments while peer debriefing, triangulation, and member checks were employed to achieve qualitative instruments reliability. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages and inferential statistics such as one way ANOVA and independent t-test to test hypotheses. Qualitative data was analyzed using narratives, presented and summarized in themes. Findings revealed that training programs and tools corresponded to the needs of teachers. However, they wished workshops were organized during working days not holidays. Teachers were dissatisfied with monetary incentive provision, while appreciation and recognition were much appreciated. Work schedule flexibility enhanced teachers’ job satisfaction; however, female teachers expressed low satisfaction than their male counterparts. Teachers expressed satisfaction on the teaching materials’ availability and the work physical conditions. The study recommends Catholic school administrators to increase teachers’ salary, organize workshops on working days, build staff houses, more investment on school infrastructure and teaching and learning equipment, and advocate teachers before the MENETP.
